Phoenix, AZ (February 25, 2011) - Kyle Busch won Friday night's Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway, the second race of the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.
Busch took the lead from Clint Bowyer on Lap 44 of the 150-lap race and never again trailed, despite myriad caution periods in the second half of the race. Ron Hornaday Jr. finished third, followed by Johnny Sauter and Austin Dillon.
The victory was Busch's 25th in just 87 Truck Series starts and the 87th of his career in NASCAR's top three divisions. He also tied Jeff Gordon for sixth place overall for number of NASCAR touring series victories.
Busch has now finished first or second in the last five PIR NCWTS races, and has an average finish of 4.0 here in seven career starts.
"It didn't seem so dominant there in the early going with Clint running away with it," said Busch, who ran a new chassis tonight, No. 007. " ... All in all, it was a good day and a good night and that's all you can ask for."
As for the runner-up, he made no excuses. "Just came up short," said Bowyer. "Got beat. What else can you say?"
